Registration
All MLL Registration is conducted online at www.magnolialittleleague.com.
Payments may be made via credit card during online registration, or via check
after completing online registration. If you are paying by check or have requested a scholarship
then your registration is complete once you have reached the credit card payment page, and you may close your browser at that point.
If your child does not meet the age requirements for the division that you think
they should be in then register them in the division that their age qualifies them
for and make a note in in the registration comments field and send email to the
registrar. All requests must be approved by the Players Agent (Commissioner
for single A). Additionally, all players wishing to play in AAA Majors or
Minors must attend skills evaluations.
For registration and related issues contact the registrar via email at registrar@magnolialittleleague.com.
Team Selection
Players for AAA Majors and Minors Baseball and Fastpitch Softball AAA teams
are selected through a confidential draft conducted by the Players Agents and coaches.
For all other programs, players are selected by the division Commissioners to balance the skill level and age mixture
on each team. Except in Majors, players do not return to the same team in subsequent years that they remain
in the same program. If your child is not contacted by the "Teams Formed" date applicable to a program they
register for, please contact the baseball or fastpitch players agent.
Baseball: mllplayersagent@comcast.net
Fastpitch: lbjorklund@comcast.net.
All-Star teams are selected through a process that is documented here.
What is meant by "League Age"?
The League Age determination date is the age a player
has attained as of a specific date, for the purpose of placing the player in a particular
division. For more than 55 years in Little League Baseball, that date was July 31.
Starting in 2006, the date in all divisions of Little League Baseball and Tee-Ball will be April
30 of the current year. The date in all divisions of Little League Softball
will be Dec. 31 of the previous year. You can get more details about this by clicking on this link to
the official announcement about the change in League Age determination.
If you would like assistance with figuring out League Age for your child, you can use the
League Age calculator.
Skills Evaluation (Tryouts)
The league conducts skills evaluation sessions in order
to assess the abilities of players and to balance the teams.
The following skills are evaluated: hitting, catching (fly and ground), throwing, pitching, and running.
Plan ahead so your child will have a good experience.
Have your child dress appropriately for changing weather conditions (layers, gloves
to wear between skill tests).
Make sure they wear a baseball style cap, rubber cleats(or gym shoes if the evaluation moves
to a hard surface due to unplayable field conditions), and a regulation size mitt.
Arrive 15 minutes early to allow for check in and for your child to warm up.
We will attempt to make schedule accomodatations. If your child cannot attend the skills evaluation or
tryout session applicable to their program level, please contact Brian Harris, Baseball Players Agent,
mllplayersagent@comcast.net, or Lori Bjorklund, Fastpitch Players Agent,
lbjorklund@comcast.net.
Remember: A player must attend one of the necessary skills evaluations in order to qualify to play in the Majors and AAA Minors.
Does My Child Need To Attend the Player Skills Evaluations(Tryouts)?
For 2007 and 2008 only players wanting to play AAA Minors
and AAA Majors have been required to attend Skills Evaluations(Tryouts). For 2008
the MLL Board is requiring ALL 10-12 year olds (including those that played on a
Majors Baseball team in 2007) to attend Baseball Skills Evaluations
(Tryouts). Additionally, all 8 and 9 year olds who wish to play in AAA are required
to attend Skills Evaluations (Tryouts).
No other evaluations are being conducted; there are no evaluations for kids aged 5 to 7, nor for kids aged 13-18.
Players who are 8-9 years old, and who wish to play AA, do not have to attend Tryouts.
Practices and Games
The length of the season and the number of practices and
games increases progressively with the age level of each program. At younger age
levels, there will only be a few organizational practices, which will be discontinued
once games begin. For intermediate programs, the balance between practices and games
sometimes depends on competing field use, including making up rained out games.
For Majors and above programs, practices will continue throughout the season. Almost
all teams will play a game every Saturday, plus one to three weeknight games or
practices, depending on age level and weather. For Majors programs and above, the
game season is split between a "regular" season and a round robin "tournament."
Thereafter, All Star teams are formed to compete against other area Little Leagues.
Players at most program levels receive a full uniform
(hat, T shirt and/or jersey, pants and socks). Players need to provide their own
footwear (rubber baseball cleats recommended, metal cleats not allowed except for
Jr. and Senior Ball), a regulation size mitt, and a protective cup (required for
boys at A level and above). Each team is issued bats, balls, batting helmets, and
catcher's gear. Parents should talk to their child's coach before purchasing a bat
or other equipment for that child's personal use.
League Consitution and By-laws
It is an obligation of responsible administration and
a requirement of Little League Baseball that every league spell out its operational
format in a document usually referred to as the Constitution. The Constitution spells
out the duties and responsibilities of the officers of the board, definition of
membership, election procedures, meeting requirements such as quorum, etc. No part
of the Constitution can conflict with or supercede any Little League rule, regulation
or policy.
Every local Little League is required to have a valid Constitution on file at
the Regional Headquarters. Any subsequent amendments or additions must be approved
by the Regional Headquarters and on file there before they become valid. The local
Little League board of directors must make a copy of the Constitution available
to any member of the local Little League for review and inspection if requested.
The Constitution of a local league remains in effect from year-to-year, without
requiring annual adoption by the membership or local Little League board of directors.
However, the local Little League board of directors should review the Constitution
annually for any possible amendments it may wish to propose to the membership.
The Constitution is to be distinguished always from the local Little League bylaws,
local Little League local rules, and local Little League ground rules. These documents
expire annually at the end of the fiscal year and must be renewed annually. They
normally include the local board's procedures for selection of Tournament Teams
(All Stars), specific ground rules for various divisions (such as whether or not
the 10-run rule will be used), etc. Because each local Little League board of directors
should have authority to change these types of procedures, they require only board
consent, without the general membership's approval.
Magnolia Little League's Constitution
Magnolia Little League Boundaries
From Article IV of Magnolia Little League's Constitution: That section of Seattle, Washington bounded by the Ship
Canal to the north, Elliott Bay to the south, 15th Ave West to the east and Puget
Sound to the west, commonly known as Magnolia.
Please Note: Little League Baseball International requires that all players must
reside within the boundaries of their local Little League.
Lost and Found
Coaches and other league volunteers place items found at the fields in the Equipment Trailer, or the Equipment Sheds.
Please contact your coach if you have lost an item.
How Is The League Financed?
The following two charts show the breakdown of revenue sources and expenditures respectively.
The 2007 season (fiscal year) began October 1, 2006 and ended September 30, 2007.

What is our League ID Number?
Most people have no need for this number. Umpires, coaches
or parents registering for a clinic for instance might be asked for League ID to
fill out an application. Our League ID is No. 4470804
What size bat and glove does my child need?
We are providing the following link to fogdog Sports",
an online retailer of sporting goods, as a convenience so that you might better
understand what your child might need to play their best. Magnolia Little
League makes no recommendation whether or not to buy from them. They do however,
provide two excellent reference pages on how to select a baseball/softball bat or glove.
