Tryouts, or skills evaluations, are conducted for those playing in the AAA Majors and AAA Minors divisions.  Managers use the evaluation information gathered during tryouts as part of their selection criterion during the draft process.  The basic objective of tryouts is to rank all the players based upon their age and abilities so that when the teams are drafted, teams can be equally balanced.

We attempt to make accomodations for family schedules.  If your child cannot attend the skills evaluation or tryout session applicable to their program level please contact the appropriate players agent:

Who Must Attend

• All Players who are 10 to 12 years old regardless of whether they played on a Majors team last year.

• Any Players who are 8 or 9 years old, have completed at least one year at the AA level, and who want to play at the AAA Minors level.

    All players aged 10-12.  A player must attend a Tryout session to be eligible for the Majors Draft.
    9yr old players who want to play AAA.

    All players aged 10 through 12 whose last name begins with letter A through L.

  • Saturday, February 9, 1:00pm
    Any players aged 8 or 9, who have completed at least one year in AA, and who wish to play AAA this year,
    and whose last name begins with letter A through L.

  • Sunday, February 10, 9:00am
    All players aged 10 through 12 whose last name begins with letter M through Z.

  • Sunday, February 10, 1:00pm
    Any players aged 8 or 9, who have completed at least one year in AA, and who wish to play AAA this year,
    and whose last name begins with letter M through Z .

  • Saturday, February 9, 10:00am
    All players who want to play on a Majors team.
    If you played on a Majors team last year, you do not need to attend the skills evaluations this year.

  • Saturday, February 9, 12:00pm
    All Pitchers (AAA Minors or Majors).

  • Saturday, February 9, 1:00pm
    All players who want to play on a AAA Minors team.

Where

• Baseball Tryouts will be conducted at Magnolia Field #2 located at 2555 32nd Ave. West, South of Mounger Pool.
• Fastpitch Softball Tryouts will be conducted at Lawton Field located at 4000 27th West, adjacent to Lawton Elementary.

What To Expect

Tryouts are conducted as a group and generally last two to three hours. You must be present at the designated start time for your group as noted above.

• Throwing and fielding (Infield): Player at SS position, fields a ground ball and make a throw to 1st base.

• Throwing and Fielding (outfield): Player in left field position fields a fly ball, throws to a cutoff or to home plate.

• Hitting: Use pitching machine, players gets five (good) pitches.

• Base Running: On final Pitch (above), players start at home plate, runs around bases for time and style.

• Pitching: Players interested in pitching will be given the opportunity to be scored by delivering 10 pitches.
