Update - 2020 Season Plans

Hello MLL Family - I hope you are staying healthy and finding ways to enjoy the extended time together. Our family was reminiscing this past week - looking at photos and sharing memories of MLL parade day, a traditional harbinger of spring in the neighborhood that was sorely missing this year. This "extended rain delay" will eventually pass, and while there are certainly more pressing concerns for a lot of families right now, we are working hard behind the scenes to make sure we are ready to resume Little League activities when we get the thumbs up.

Per our earlier messages and Little League International guidance, we are targeting May 12th to restart league activities. This could change of course, and we recognize that some families will be more comfortable than others in how they approach normalizing our lives again when the time is right. We are developing Health and Safety Plans to address Public Health Guidelines for COVID-19 when activities being again. Gov. Inslee's stay-at-home order is in effect through May 4th - if that gets extended, we will continue to follow the directive as required. We want to be transparent with our thought process and let you know that we are doing our very best to bring a little something for you and your kids to look forward to.

Our plan for the 2020 Little League season is to ramp up (optional) practices for 2-3 weeks starting May 12th. Games would likely start after Memorial Day, playing through June and July. This timeline allows us to get 8-10 weeks of baseball and softball in, which aligns with a typical season. We also working the District on an All Star experience for our older kids, and intend to have our summer ball program in August for those kids that just can't get enough!

There are a lot of contingencies of course - primary being the health and safety of our kids and families. While the protective measures that have been in place seem to be having an effect, there are still a lot of unknowns with respect to how we safely and collectively start returning to our new normal. Fingers crossed that an additional 4-5 weeks provides the clarity we are all seeking. A silver lining - playing ball in summer vs spring will be an awesome experience for everyone vs the PNW spring rain that we all know and love.

For those of you on the front lines of this battle, a sincere thank you for all that you are doing to keep us safe, healthy, fed and cared for. For those whose lives and families have been directly impacted, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Looking forward to playing ball in summer weather this year!
Joe
